My name is Kaitlin Rawson and this is me!
I am currently 21 years old and a student in my third and final year at Monash South Africa (now officially IIE MSA). I am studying a Bachelor of Social Science with a double major in Economics and International Studies. It took me a while and a few forays into subjects that I didn't end up sticking with to decide what I wanted to study, but I am pretty happy with where I've ended up, even though I'm not quite sure where I'm headed next.
I am also a pole dancer. I started pole dancing at the end of 2014 and was immediately hooked! Unfortunately, I had an accident where I broke my neck in September 2016 (a story for another post), but I after a few months in hospital, returned to pole dancing and have been doing it since. I had performed a few times on stage before the accident and was about to start competing, so when I came back I jumped straight into it and did my first performance a year after my accident! I recently competed in the South African National Pole Sports Championships in the ParaPole category, and qualified for the World Pole Sports Championships, which I am currently training for.
I am lucky enough to have an amazingly supportive family, a wonderful boyfriend and some great friends too.
I love sweet things and baking, but I do not like chocolate, and often I won't eat any of what I bake as I have too many tastes while I'm making it. At the end of 2018, I decided that I wanted to focus more on baking so I started my own business (Kate's Cakes) where I make custom cakes and other baked goodies. I've been told my brownies are the best!
I love travelling and have been fortunate enough to have been to some amazing places so far, but I still have lots on my list that I want to explore. So far I have been to the UK and Italy, I've done a Contiki tour of Europe, I've been to Bali with my sister, and I've been to Norway with Cody.
I am obsessed with animals, and my family has four dogs who I love to death! Jake and Kadi are chihuahuas, Popcorn is a chihuahua cross Pekingese, and Ellie is a Staffie cross.
That's it for now, but check back because I hope to be posting lots about my life, my training, and the random thoughts and opinions that pop into my head.
